It was a weekend of utter decadence!!
A dear friend had the children while DD and I got to go out for brunch in the beautiful cafe Anouk at Paddington.....
It's only a few times a year we get to go out alone...drink coffee while it's hot without pencils and colouring all over the table....TALK.....and actually enjoy the food we ordered just for ourselves and linger afterwards warming in the winter sun....

I ordered some mushrooms and they were heavenly....pan fried with some garlic, baby spiniach, Italian parsley, lemon and dill.....just gorgeous
Then we spent the afternoon watching the kids bounce on the trampoline at home drinking a good red out of the new glasses I'd got DD - heavy as heavy wine glasses can be....
doesn't get better than this!
What a great way to spend your hubby's birthday...I can relate to the start of you story so much as for almost 9 years we had no family around so ...very little escapes as a couple!
